Giant Crocus Jeanne d'Arc (C. vernus)

Giant Crocus Jeanne d'Arc (C. vernus)

White, cupped-shaped flowers are a welcome sight when they open in early spring. Growing 3-6" tall, Giant Crocus Jeanne d'Arc (C. vernus) is a charming addition when planted by the dozen in borders or edging. The white flowers are striking by themselves or when mixed with other colors. For an impressive look, plant giant crocus in groups of hundreds and thousands for naturalizing in the grass, woodlands, slopes and under trees. Crocus bulbs multiply rapidly, so you'll enjoy more blooms every year.

I used the crocus to line both sides of my driveway. They were beautiful. Even with fluctuating temperatures and rain, they bloomed just as I had imagined they would and provided a welcoming pathway into more of my garden. Because of the weather, I thought I was only going to see them a few days but they held up beautifully for a few weeks. So glad I added them to my landscape.

Stunning

These were stunning. They were among the first bulbs to come up (as they usually are) and have nice large flowers. They would be great for naturalizing in a lawn. I myself planted them in pots for a "bulb lasagna". Highly recommend them.

I planted these in the fall mixed with some tulips which bloomed right after the crocuses were beginning to fade. These all came up beautifully and hopefully will look even better next year as they multiply.

These crocus are just as intensely white as pictured. The large upright cups are just gorgeous. All the bulbs came up. I mixed them with snow drops and miniature daffodils. Wish I'd bought more and will.

Q
Zone and what time to you ship? Fall is 9/21 to 12/21, the ground can freeze here in early October. I'd like them in mid September at the latest. Id like to plant 200 in my lawn this fall. Thank you
Asked by Thetis
Verified Reply - AngelaWe begin shipping in early September to your zone but we can't guarantee a specific shipping/arrival date. Some of this depends on how the bulb harvest goes with weather, etc. We do our best to get the bulbs shipped to you well before the ground freezes. If we stumble, please let us know and we will be happy to make it right. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Do you have white crocuses in quantities less than 100? Can I collect the stamens and use them as saffron? Thanks Ed
Asked by Ed
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Giant Crocus Jeanne d'Arc is only available in bags of 100. The crocus used for saffron is Crocus Sativus. https://www.dutchbulbs.com/product/Sativus_CrocusWas this answer helpful to you
