Bulk Lilies from K. van Bourgondien
Lilies are a must-have for gardens. Hardy and easy to grow, their trumpet-shaped flowers add elegance and warm summer color to the garden as well as cut-flower displays. Oriental lilies are famous for perfuming the summer air with their sweet fragrance. By planting both Asiatic and Oriental lilies, you can extend the lily season for weeks in the summer.
Lilies look most impressive when planted in groups, and our bulk lilies provide an economical way to create large landscape displays. For the most dynamic display, choose one, two or more varieties from the wide range of colors. K. van Bourdondien has a long history of supplying plump, healthy bulbs to gardeners, and selecting exceptional varieties that you won't find at just any retail store.
Meaning Behind Lilies
While lilies have many symbolic meanings, the most common are purity and fertility. Florists often use lily flowers in bridal bouquets.
Types of Lilies
Lilies are available in a wide range of colors, heights and bloom times. Here are five types of lilies to consider for your garden:
Asiatic Lily—Producing up to 12 flowers per bulb, these lilies offer amazing color choices and loads of blooms. Their strong stems make them popular for cut-flower displays. They bloom in early to midsummer.
Oriental Lily—Known for their sweet fragrance and gorgeous flowers, these lilies produce large flowers, often 6-9 in. across and are often used in wedding bouquets and centerpieces. They bloom in mid to late summer.
Border Lily—Growing 14-18 inches tall, these may be Asiatic or Oriental, and their bloom times will vary from early to late summer. They produce full-sized flowers that look fantastic in front borders or cut-flower displays.
Giant Lily—Also known as Giant Orienpet, these are a cross between Oriental and Trumpet Lilies. During their first year, they grow 3-4 ft. tall. Within three years, they usually grow 6-8 ft. tall with masses of often fragrant flowers. They bloom in early to midsummer.
Double Lily—These cultivars are known for their layers of petals. They may be Asiatic or Oriental hybrids, and their bloom times vary from early to late summer. They are usually pollen free.
How to Care for Lilies
Lilies are hardy, easy-to-grow bulbs that can be grown in zones 3-8. Like other flower bulbs, they prefer well-drained soil and can be planted in full sun to partial shade.
Lily bulbs can be planted in the spring or the fall. When planting lily bulbs, the planting depth should be about three times the diameter of the bulb. We recommend fertilizing with
100% Natural Bulb Food at planting time.
After the lily flowers have bloomed, allow the leaves to fade and don't remove the leaves until fall. They help provide nourishment for the next season's blooms.

How to Plant Lily Bulbs in Bulk for Landscaping
When planting lily bulbs in bulk we suggest digging a trench instead of digging individual holes for each bulb. Dig the trench 6-8" deep and place the lily bulbs about 6" apart, making sure the roots are facing down. Once you have all your bulk lily bulbs planted, cover the area with soil, press down gently and water thoroughly.
