Muscari latifolium offers a new twist on a traditional favorite. This petite mid spring bloom features plump, blue florets clustered like grapes atop a straight, low growing stem. The flower heads are accented in a darker blue shade, adding depth to the overall look. Use this fragrant charmer in front borders, as a ground cover, along walkways or in rock gardens. Highly versatile and pairs nicely with tulips, daffodils and early perennials.

Cute little two-tone flowers

Submitted 1 year ago

By Flower maximalist

From Zone 7a

Charming little blooms that pair well with yellow daffodils. (If I'd planned better, they would have looked nice next to dwarf daffodils to keep the scale similar.) These muscari latifolium bloom a little later than the other classic solid-blue muscari in my garden and have a broader leaf shape. When they first emerge, they appear solid deep blue before the bi-color appearance emerges.

Good results with the muscari latifolium. They flowered as advertised, with 2 colors and just a little taller than regular muscari. Nice addition to the garden.

Makes a good impact on larger groupings. Nothing to partially write home about but still a great addition to your collection!

Enjoying them

I planted a variety of grape hyacinths last year. We've had the common blue for years, and got a pot of 'Blue Magic' hyacinths last Easter. I got these in the fall, and 'Sky Blue,' and 'White Magic.' They're all in bud or blooming. I especially like how these look in among my yellow daffodils, especially with the smaller jonquils. It's a charming sight.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
