Growing Tips

  • Planting Instructions:

    Plant with 1/3 of the bulb above the soil line.

  • Pruning Instructions:

    Remove spent flower stalk after blooming. Allow foliage to dry out before removing to allow energy to be stored in the bulb for next year's bloom.
  • Winter Care:

    Reduce amount of water given around early August, allow bulbs to ripen and go into a dormant state for 6-8 weeks. Bring out of cool dark storage after 6-8 weeks to begin growth.
  • Planting Depth:

    Plant with 1/3 of the bulb above the soil line.
  • Watering Requirements:

    Water sparingly until the bulb develops leaves or flowers, then water more when necessary.

We take advanced orders, and as the crops are harvested, our staff of K. van Bourgondien experts makes an on-the-spot selection of the finest bulbs available to fill those reservations.
We will pack and ship your order based on the following schedules. The type of product you order or the weather may affect the anticipated shipping schedule. Please note that we cannot ship outside of the 48 contiguous states. What zone am I in?

Orders for gift certificates will be shipped immediately.

Due to hot weather conditions, we are unable to ship any plant items from late June through August. General merchandise will be shipped with your plant order.

Beautiful color and very tall talks spikes (23-25 in)each had 5-6 flowers and two stalks Very happy with these bulbs I planted the day I received still bloomed after christmas so would like earlier if i purchase again. Will try to force these myself next year.

Each of these had double blooms. I started them before Christmas and they are just finishing blooming. Also gave as gifts which everyone loved when they bloomed. Such a rich red color.
