Beautiful little bulb

Submitted 4 years ago

By Wild life habitat

From Dallas, Tx

I have at least three of these in my garden. The leaves stay green all winter. In the spring it has that lovely flower turning into the beautiful seed head. The seeds start out green, yellow and then red like the picture here. This is a no maintenance plant. Yes, recommend.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Beautiful in the woods on the East Coast

Submitted 4 years ago

By Anne in PA

From Pennsylvania

Here in PA, arum italicum is not invasive at all and is one of my favorite plants. They love shade, thrive in zone 6b and don't need to be lifted. Occasionally the leaves are huge, for no apparent reason. The flowers and berries don't appear on every plant which adds to the intrigue. My only complaint, if you call it that, is that the tropical-looking leaves die back before summer, leaving the red berries, only to re-appear in the Fall. It is kind of a strange look to see them surrounded by the fallen leaves, but it's not the plant's fault.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I love them but they are dangerous to dogs and cats.

From LI, NY Zone 7

They just keep coming back and gently spreading after 30 years. THEY HAVE BEAUTIFUL FOLIAGE IN WINTER. Not invasive in the Northeast. I am in zone 7. No care needed. Fragrant flower is poisonous and attracts animals. Berries, too. With pets, cut the berry stem as it forms. Hard to find anywhere else than here. Wear gloves when planting. Can cause skin irritation.

The Plant that Keeps on Giving

Submitted 7 years ago

By MirningGlory

From Blue Ridge Foothills

Here in North Carolina my Arum reappears every year with this beautiful green foliage as pictured. It buds out in freezing weather when nothing else is green and it stays a beautiful green almost all summer long. It even stays green in the snow. I personally think the bloom is not impressive, but it rewards later on with these gorgeous orange berries!!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
