The schubertii allium has extremely large blooms—up to 14"!—with small, reddish-purple flowers that blooms in May to June. Carefree and rewarding, they will tolerate poor garden soil, and once established, they will naturalize easily. Alliums are deer resistant and make excellent cut flowers. Just one of these blooms in a vase is sure to make a statement.

These really are my favorite allium. I grew some in full sun and some in part shade in zone 5a. The part shade ones were absolutely massive, which was a surprise!

These alliums are so much fun. A couple of them were wider than a foot. What sparkle in the garden. They last a long time in ground before they are ready to be gently pulled out. I sprayed some for use in a dried arrangement and they stay intact so not allium dust anywhere.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Garden Interest

Looks great while in bloom & continues to provide interest in the garden with showy spikes on stems after no longer in bloom. Stands out among other alliums planted. Planning to buy more, especially because the deer don't eat them.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

These flowers are so unusual .They are so big the poor stem had a hard time holding them up.I think I should have planted them a little deeper. Lovely shade of pink . Adds a sense of fairy dust to your flower garden.

I liked the uniqueness of Allium schubertii. It was beautiful from the time it emerged in the spring until July when it was time to neaten up the beds. Will be getting more of this crazy giant.

Q
I ordered & received 5 Allium Schubertii - - the instructions & information say to plant them in the fall, But they got here just a couple weeks ago. ??????? Will they still bloom this season???
Asked by Teaberry
Verified Reply - AngelaI am very confused because your Allium schubertii shows as delivered and shipped on November 5 2021. It is a plant we deliver in the fall for planting. It was packaged with several other items included on your order. The bulbs are not likely to bloom this season if they are even viable. I would plant them and hope you will see some foliage growth this season. If so, it's possible they will bloom next spring. Was this answer helpful to you
