Toad Lily

For late-season color, whimsical flower form and plenty of texture, look to this stately perennial with the odd, little spotted blooms. Toad Lily is a highly prized specimen plant, known for its exceptional garden performance and its unique ability to liven up the landscape just as the summer blooms have begun to fade for the year. Tall, hairy, robust stems are covered in ladderlike foliage and petite, white flowers speckled in rich purple. The blooms are visible from the top of the stems all the way to the bottom—a very unusual, yet charming habit. They are among the best perennials for growing in full to part shade and they are quite easy to grow. We suggest planting along walkways or borders.

Q
Toad lily, & Rasberry Mouse Toad Lilly : 1.)Would they do well under a Japanese Maple Tree? 2.) Do these multiply if they survive? 3.) Would you recommend planting with bleeding hearts & Brunella ? Need deer and rabbit resistant. Stlouis Mo. (zone 6-7)
Asked by Sandy
Verified Reply - AngelaBoth the Toad Lily and Raspberry Mouse Toad Lily should perform well in the dappled shade of a Japanese Maple Tree. Just be sure the soil is kept moist but not boggy. The clumps will spread and can be easily divided to create more plants. These plants will pair well with Brunnera since both prefer moist soil conditions. We consider Toad Lilies to be deer resistant. The rabbits maybe a different story. Was this answer helpful to you
