Siberian Iris Flying Fiddles

Siberian Iris Flying Fiddles

Wonderful color combination of pale cream standards, yellow falls with red-violet veins and pale blue centers makes Siberian Iris Flying Fiddles a standout in the garden and cut-flower displays. A favorite for planting along the edges of ponds, streams and boggy areas, this easy-to-grow Siberian Iris blooms in June and naturalizes well. Growing 20" tall, Flying Fiddles has a graceful appearance with slim, grassy foliage. Siberian Iris grow best when planted in full sun to partial shade. Deer tend to avoid.

Healthy and strong but not what I was expecting

They are healthy and strong but the colors are absolutely not what I expected. They are not vibrant and there's way more pink than expected

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Not vigorous

Submitted 4 years ago

By MP

From Duluth, MN

I purchased these alongside So Van Gogh, potted them to start at the same time. So Van Gogh put up vigorous plants on 5 out of 6 rhizomes, and one even bloomed in 5 weeks (color is not what's shown over there, FYI, see that other review). These ones, I ordered two 3-packs, and again, 1 of the 6 rhizomes never grew and rotted. Of those that did start, they appear weak, aenimic, and in the same time period as the other iris, the leaves on this are only 3-4 inches tall at this time.

Merchant Response

Thank you for sharing your review. We were sorry to hear the Siberian Iris Flying Fiddles failed to grow and the Van Gogh's color is not as shown in the advertisement. We are delighted to let you know we guarantee our merchandise, we will be reaching out to you with a positive resolution.

Small but healthy rhizomes. Blossomed into nice full plants. Once i see the flower, will happily post a 5th star.

Q
What can I do to keep the squirrels from digging up and taking my bulbs? I just spent $100 on bulbs and I noticed when I came home that 1/3 of them were dug up and missing. I'm so frustrated because I had them arranged by color and the lost bulbs/money spent.
Asked by Lea
Verified Reply - AngelaOh no! I am so sorry to hear that happened. We know how frustrating it is to have your hard work sabotaged. Our sister company offers Bulb Baskets which sound like a necessity in your garden. Here's a link to take a look. https://www.gardensalive.com/product/bulb-basket-kitWas this answer helpful to you
Q
If I order Siberian Iris now, can I wait until fall to plant them?
Asked by Mandy
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Siberian Iris rhizomes will not hold until fall. We suggest planting them when they arrive. If you are moving or the bed isn't prepared, you can plant them in pots for now. Just be sure to move the pots into an unheated garage or basement if you don't get them in the ground by winter. Was this answer helpful to you
