Q
Since these are so tall, do they need to be staked?
Asked by KATHLEEN
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Bee Friendly Dahlias are likely to benefit from staking. Pinching the plant back during early growth can help keep it shorter and bushier. Was this answer helpful to you

Q
How many bulbs in a bag? How many flowers does a single plant produce?

Q
-I'm in Utah ~ Utah County -do the bulbs get planted in the fall like daffodils? -I'd like some "wine purple", aprox 4" blooms.. -also, I noted your "bee friendly" type…
Asked by Jane
Verified Reply - AngelaHi there. Dahlias are tender bulbs and they are planted in the spring after all danger of frost has passed. If you order now, we will ship them at the appropriate time for planting in your area. The Thomas Edison Dahlia is a wine purple color. The blooms will range from about 5 " to 8". https://www.dutchbulbs.com/product/Thomas_A_Edison_Decorative_DahliaWas this answer helpful to you
Q

If you order now, we will ship them at the appropriate time for planting in the spring. In the following years, you can store your dahlias tubers in a cool basement for winter. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
This is the first time I am thinking of planting Dahlias. With one tube, how many Dahlia's come up? I am looking to do boarder Dahlias and a few 18-24 inch and a few dinner plate varieties. I see that one bag comes with 5-10 tubes, but how many Dahlias come from one tube?
Asked by Lizzy
Verified Reply - AngelaYou can expect dozens of flowers from one Dahlia tuber if you deadhead or cut some for vases. You won't regret planting them. In your area, I would suggest starting the tubers in pots indoors. Plant them outdoors when all danger of frost has passed. This will give you blooms earlier in the summer. Q
Do you suggest trellis or stake for support of these single flowered dahlias?
Asked by Momcat
Verified Reply - AngelaI would suggest stake supports because these dahlias can spread nearly 24 inches wide. If you attempt to tie it to a trellis, you may be breaking flower stalks. Stakes allow you to work with the natural growth of the plant and provide support directly where it is needed. Was this answer helpful to you
