Allium karataviense Red Giant

Allium karataviense Red Giant

83%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
Don't let this new allium's short stature fool you! Red Giant is a dynamo in the late spring to early summer landscape. Though it may be low growing at only 10" high, it bears huge, purple red, ball shaped blooms heads that are sure to attract all the right attention. It makes an ideal accent plant for front borders, feature beds and cutting gardens. Its bold color and unique scent lures hummingbirds, butterflies and bees to the 4½-5" flower clusters, but repels deer and other pesky critters.

I had forgotten what I planted in the fall and when these came up in the spring they are FABULOUS even for first year plantings. Low to the ground and spectacular green foliage with a short stack pop of muted bulb color. Just don't plant these behind anything tall-You won't see them.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Lovely purple allium

I hesitated to order these bulbs based from other experiences. I planted these in two places in my front yard bed and am happy with results. Not all bulbs broke ground, but I did not mulch as is recommended. The allium are quite short and exactly why I bought them. Perfect for the front of a flower bed. I am in Zone 5/6 and as of 4/26/24 these bulbs are blooming. Happy gardening.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Little plant, BIG POP!!

Planted these large bulbs in late October. They were growing and budding away by the end of March. Flowering by the middle of April and still going strong a month later. I planted them in 3s between giant hosta and threw in some leftover tulip bulbs here and there. They complement both beautifully! I'll be adding tulips to the entire row

Bulbs did not arrive in good condition. I was very upset about this. I am putting a new garden in and these were going to be planted with hostas but the bulbs were rotted and shriveled. I planted them anyway, but they never did come up.
