Questions & Answers

Q&A

Showing 10 out of 11 Questions

Q
If I plant a mixture of different colors and types on lilies, for example several colors asiatic or and oriental lilies, will the stay true to their original characteristics? Will star gazer red still be the same flower color and shape several years later even when lots of different color oriental lilies are around. Or will they decline to their native state, like become heirloom orange speckled color in n generation? In other words, what is the life expectancy of the lilies garden made from your bulbs? With the flowers still look the same like in your photos in 3, 5, 7 years? What factors influence longevity of the sold species? Thank you?
Asked by Natalya
Verified Reply - AngelaYou can plant different colors and varieties of lilies without worrying much about color changes. The lilies will remain the same color and produce offsets or bulblets that are identical to the parent plant. This means you will have a lilies indefinitely with proper care. Lilies from the same division, Asiatic, Oriental etc, could cross pollinate with each other and set seed that could be different. To prevent this possibility, remove the blooms before they set seed. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Hi! I'd like to order some stargazer lilies for my sister as a Christmas gift. (I understand they won't be shipped until spring.) I'm wondering about the difference in quality between the 16-18 cm bulbs and the 14-16 cm bulbs. Can you tell me what to expect if I go with the smaller bulbs?
Asked by Jacquelene
Verified Reply - AngelaThe 14-16 cm Star Gazer Lily bulbs will produce less flowers than the 16-18 cm bulbs. They should still bloom the first year after planting though. They will mature in about a year and be just as floriferous. Was this answer helpful to you
