Asiatic Lily Red Highland

Asiatic Lily Red Highland

100%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
An amazing sight in early to midsummer, the abundant blooms of Red Highland cover the planting area with bright, fiery red color and gorgeous flower forms. This eye-catching Asiatic type produces up to eight beautiful blooms per sturdy stem (although five is the plant average), quickly creating an entire bouquet or arrangement with just one snip of the secateurs. The flowers are quite large—7" across—and feature dark red centers that add extra depth to the already fine display. Asiatic lilies are easy to grow and perennialize like a dream. Tall 40" stems make Red Highland an ideal back border choice, as well as a cutting garden go-to. Exquisite in mass plantings.

Beautiful for the few blooms that appeared

Submitted 8 months ago

By LilyRose

From East Coast MA

These have grown between 6" and 15" high; definitely not achieving 40" this year! One or two blooms per stem on the taller ones about 8 or 10 bulbs. None of the short stems produced any blooms (out of 25 bulbs). Blooms last one or two days and there is no re-blooming. Currently the 1st week of August and there is not a single bloom in this corner, just bare stalks. Not as red as in the website picture, more a deep magenta. They are in sandy soil and full sun. Definitely NOT deer resistant. Should be grown in protected area if deer are a problem. I plan on relocating them for next year and hopefully they will do better.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

VIBRANT, BRIGHT, FULL BLOOMS HEARTY AND LONG LASTING, CLOSER TO A DEEP ORANGE COLOR AS OPPOSED TO RED, SPRINKLED WITH TINY BROWN SPOTS. THEY CAME UP SMILING AND CONTINUED. I FINALLY CUT THEM AND ENJOYED THEM AT THE DINNER TABLE AND THE COUCH TABLES. I BOUGHT THE SUPER SACK, SINCE I WAS SO PLEASED WITH THIS OUTCOME. AM SHARING A FEW BULBS WITH FRIENDS.
