Hyacinth Carnegie

Hyacinth Carnegie

100%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
Beautiful pure white, compact spikes are stunning when planted in small groups or with other colors of hyacinths. Hyacinth Carnegie is one of the best for late forcing. Growing 8-10" tall, it blooms in early to mid-spring and attracts pollinators. This charming, fragrant hyacinth is ideal for planting in formal beds or scattered in the border between ground covers and perennials or in small clumps in front of evergreens. Hyacinth bulbs are easy to grow and perform best when planted in well-drained soil and in full sun to partial shade. Deer tend to pass it by.

Amazingly fragrant

Submitted 2 years ago

By Ero the Sparrow

From Virginia

I will purchase more of these in the fall to add to the mass-planted edges I planted last fall. 99% of the bulbs sent up spikes, and they were mostly left alone by the rabbits. The great treat of these hyacinths was the strong fragrance that wafted through the garden almost 24-7 when they were in bloom. Highly recommend!

Fantastic! Should've bought more

Bought a bag of these last fall with some others, including Blue Jacket, Gypsy Queen & Jan Bos and planted them all in clusters by color. The Carnegie came up stronger, earlier and are BRIGHT WHITE. What a great contrast to the brown of our spring garden! I'll probably buy more this fall and plant them with either Woodstock or Blue Jacket.

First time I got hyacinths to do well - these blooms were huge, welll-filleld-out, and absolutely beautiful. They lasted quite a long time - maybe 3 weeks. I am a fan, for sure!

Beautiful color and fragrant flowers!

Submitted 4 years ago

By Adely M

From Allentown, PA

I planted the bulbs in late October, just in front of the main door, they are super fragrant for around 1 week, anytime that I opened the door I could smell the fabulous aroma so I'm really happy with the results. The flowers are white and super pretty. The flowers last around 3-4 weeks.

Q
are these bulbs 14-15 CM or 16 to 17 CM ... that makes no sense. are these bulbe really that 6 to 8 inches in diameter??? what is the difference between the two options?
Asked by jady
Verified Reply - AngelaThe industry standard for sizing bulbs is to measure the circumference of the bulb. Item 87885 bulbs are 14 -15 cm. Item 88017 includes 16-17 cm bulbs. Both offers include 25 bulbs. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Do these come prechilled and ready to force? Do I need to chill them prior to forcing them? When do I plant them, so that they will come up in time for Christmas?
Asked by flowers for Christmas
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Hyacinth Carnegie bulbs are not pre-chilled. You can chill them in the refrigerator, without fruits and vegetables that produce ethylene, for about 8 to 10 weeks. Once they are chilled, they need a few more weeks to bloom. If you already have the bulbs, it might be possible to have them bloom by Christmas. If not, I don't think you have time to force blooms this Christmas season. Was this answer helpful to you
