Slow grower

Submitted 2 years ago

By Frankie

From Gig Harbor, Wa

Planted in pots indoors in a grow room (about 60-65F) early in the year. 1 sprouted after a month, a 2nd after two, and a 3rd finally after 3 months. The other two never came up. Plants were slow growers but did flower. Purple Sensation are the lighter lilies in the front, a different nursery bought lily is behind them.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Not purple

Submitted 3 years ago

By Laura

From Apple Valley, MN

The bulbs did well, sprouted quickly and grew fast. The plant seems hardy but barely flowered and the flowers were pink - definitely not the purple I expected or wanted. It has been fertilized, watered and appropriate amount of sunshine. BUT, again, not purple. 3 stars are for good bulbs, and growth rate but not many flowers and not even close to the color as advertised. I would not recommend based on not being the color advertised and very few flowers.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Q
So I received this plant for Mother's Day,should I plant it outside or can it stay in the container indoors. How to take care of it
Asked by Arletta
Verified Reply - AngelaCalla Lily Purple Sensations can be grown equally well in pots or in the ground. Plant the bulbs outside after it is warm. They will appreciate a sandy, well drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Plant the bulbs 3-4 inches deep. Mulch the top of the soil. Give them a little water when planted and then wait until you see top growth to water again. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Are these Perienals? Also if you buy a bag 5 or more can you select a mix of colors, purple, pink & yellow?
Asked by Dione
Verified Reply - ViciCalla lilies are perennial in zone 9 and 10. They will need to be lifted in the fall and stored in a cool dry place in all other zones. I am sorry but the mix of colors is sold out at this time and are only available in bags of one color. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Will these calla lilies return next year?
Asked by Sally
Verified Reply - ViciCalla lilies need to be lifted in zone 3 - 8. You are in zone 8b which is close to zone 9 so with protection (mulching in unusually cold winters) these bulbs could return the next year. Calla lilies do not tolerate frozen soil. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
when do you plant these?
Asked by Florence
Verified Reply - ViciCalla Lilies are planted in the spring. When you place your order you will be given an approximate shipping date. You should plant the bulb as soon as you can once you receive it.Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can this plant be grown indoors
Asked by Susan
Verified Reply - ViciYes. Calla Lilies can grow well indoors. Calla lilies inside prefer temperatures between 65 degrees F. and 75 degrees F. as ideal growing temperatures. Be sure not to keep a growing plant any colder than about 55 degrees F. (13 C.), except when your plant goes dormant. Keep your indoor calla lilies continually moist and never allow them to dry out. Calla lilies in the home prefer some sunshine but be careful to avoid hot midday sun as this can burn the leaves. An eastern window with morning sun or western window with afternoon sun will be ideal for this plant. You’ll want to regularly fertilize your plants throughout the growing season with a low nitrogen fertilizer as this will help with flowering. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
how many bulbs come in a pack?

Q
