Calla Lily Dior

Calla Lily Dior

Fashionably unique! A newcomer to our Calla Lily lineup is Dior. This drama-inducing cultivar features near-black blooms that blend to reddish-purple toward the edges. The overall look is quite chic, and adds dimension and flair to summer gardens and indoor arrangements. Though they look exotic, Calla Lilies are easy to grow and require little care during the growing season. We like this dark variety planted alongside white or pastel versions for a pop of contrast and lots of style.

Q
If I plant in the ground, Can i leave them there year round if I mulch over them? We are in zone 7A (Western Idaho)
Asked by VRGW
Verified Reply - AngelaWe suggest lifting Calla Lilies from the ground for winter in zones 3 to 8. Your plants may not survive the winter if you leave them in the ground in zone 7.Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this Lilly tolerant to Minnesota seasons.
Asked by Jerel
Verified Reply - AngelaCalla Lilies can be grown in Minnesota. They are frost tender and would need to be lifted from the ground and stored in a frost free location for winter. They can be planted again the following year. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
I received this as a potted plant this summer when my husband died, how do I care for it now that the weather is becoming freezing? It is still in the pot outside.
Asked by SUZAN
Verified Reply - AngelaYou can bring your Calla LIly Dior indoors and treat it like a houseplant. We suggest proximity to an East-facing window, where they will get morning sun, or a Western window that lets in late-afternoon sunshine. In late fall, when the growing season is over, allow your Calla Lily to go dormant. Discontinue watering, let the foliage die off and then move your plant to a dark area. Store them for two to three months at 40-50°F, then it will be time to restart the growth cycle. Consider repotting bulbs in fresh soil. Plants perform best at temperatures of 65-75°F. You can also dig up the bulbs when the foliage yellows. Store them in a cool, dark and dry location at about 40 to 50 F and pot or plant outside again when the danger of frost has passed. Was this answer helpful to you
