The color came out bright, vivid yellow and not black at all. Very disappointing and out of place in the area it was planted

I have ordered these several times and their never the right ones. Well this last order I got I finally got 1! That's right 1! 4 yellows and 1 black. This flower is the one plant that I have had to give the most refunds to my customers. I'll keep trying, but now I wait until AFTER THEY BLOOM!

Beautiful, But

Beautiful lily with a unique black color. Rated for full sun and through zone 10. With climate change I feel that they are not really meant for full sun in the south. All grew but did not survive July and August heat. Of the 10 planted, maybe 5 are still viable. If I were to buy again, I would plant in shaded area and avoid sunny spots. With climate change, the plant companies need to revisit their zone recommendations.

Color is a bit lighter than pictured but still gorgeous. In person, the actual color is in between the product photo and my photos. My original bulbs did not come up. I contacted customer service a year later and a new batch was re-shipped. Every single bulb on the new batch came up and continued to flower from July until September. My garden is in the Triangle NC.

These bloomed brilliantly in my dry texas garden where almost everything else died D: (I did water them at least twice a week). The flowers were a little more purple-ish than pictured, but still very drama!

Every single bulb grew, and bloomed June thru August. Flowers were large, kept for 2 months in my fridge, (granted, with weekly water changes and re-snipping, I bought these for a wedding), and were much nicer than any other calla lily I've come across all year so far. Everyone who seen them had said they were their favorite, and I was always being asked what they were. I will deffinetly buy these again! On top of saving the ones have already.

Q
I recently repotted a calla lily from my mother's funeral. It's inside and I haven't over watered it but I am clueless about caring for it. If you can please give me any advice which can help me keep it alive. A few of the leaves have turned yellow and wilted I'm not sure what to do. Thank you.
Asked by Ricky
Verified Reply - AngelaWe are sincerely sorry for your loss. Potted Calla Lily plants should be placed near a window, but avoid placing them directly in the hot midday sun because this could burn the leaves. We suggest proximity to an East-facing window, where they will get morning sun, or a Western window that lets in late-afternoon sunshine. Plants perform best at temperatures of 65-75°F. Use any regular potting soil, keeping it humid but making sure no standing water gathers inside the pot. In fall, when the growing season is over, allow your Calla to go dormant. Discontinue watering, let the foliage die off and then move your plants to a dark area. Store them for two to three months at 40-50°F, then it will be time to restart the growth cycle. Consider repotting bulbs in fresh soil. It sounds like your plant is already going dormant. Discontinue watering and remove the leaves. Move the whole pot to a cool and dark location. You will be ready to start over in about 3 months. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Do they go dormant in zones 9 and 10? If yes, what does dormancy look like in zones 9 and 10?
Asked by Rocki
Verified Reply - ViciI don't have information about growing calla lilies in zone 9 and 10. You might check with your local county extension office. They are most familiar with your growing conditions and climate. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Do these require a dormancy period to flower the following spring?
Asked by Rocki
Verified Reply - AngelaYes. Calla Lilies will need a period of dormancy in order to flower the following year. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this flower container friendly
Asked by Janie

Q
I have two questions: 1. How many would you plant in a twelve inch pot. 2. Can just leave in the pot, bring inside for the winter and put back outside in the spring?
Asked by Betty
Verified Reply - AngelaI would only plant one Calla Lily Odessa in a 12 inch pot. You can simply move the pot into an unheated garage or basement for winter storage. Lightly water about once a month just enough to keep the soil from completely drying out. You can move her back outside after your last frost date. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Again do they propagate. What does it mean lift in fall?
Asked by Jude
Verified Reply - AngelaCalla Lily Odessa will produce offset bulbs that can be separated and planted. Lifting in the fall means to dig the bulb up and store it in a frost free location for winter. They can be planted again in the spring. These bulbs can't survive winters in USDA Hardiness Zones 3-8.Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Will this plant comes back year after year?
Asked by Annie
Verified Reply - ViciThis is a tender bulb that will need to be dug up in the fall and stored in a cool dry place. It will not live in the ground if it freezes. Was this answer helpful to you
