Really cute

Submitted 7 months ago

By MISSY

From MI

Nearly all have came up, maybe 2 out of 10 never sprouted. Some spread out a lot more than others so I'm going to move them this fall. Really pretty once it gets going and lots of my friends want me to share some with them.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Nothing happened

They simply did nothing. When no sprouting happened, checked the planters and no bulbs were present. They all must have rotted or something.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Planted in Spring of 2021: I shared some of the corms with a friend when I got them. I planted some in pots and some in various areas around the yard. Some came up more quickly than others, but I learned that when you have the top of the corm very near to the soil surface, they sprout all right. I think all that I planted eventually sprouted. I enjoyed them for their pretty leaves and little pink flowers. A couple of months ago, I potted up most of the ones that weren't already in pots. I ended up with quite a number of corms for every corm I planted. I shared them with another gardening friend. I brought the rest that I'd potted in for the winter. A few are still outside in a sheltered spot. I'd grown this kind of oxalis before, and it survived a mild winter outside, but not the next winter, which was harsh. That wasn't a sheltered spot, though. I have quite a lot of the oxalis plants on or near the windowsills in the house. Despite two occasions of giving some corms away, I'm pretty sure that I have more now than the 25 corms I got originally. That's fine. I found this to be a nice little plant that tries hard.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Multiply pretty readily

From the original 25 bulbs/corms planted in one 12 inch pot or so, I have made 4 12 inch pots, plus about 6 6 to 8 inch pots. I have both let them now stay in the pot and completely dry out and bring in to basement. I have also kept in a 50 degree ( most of the time) mudroom over winter in seasonal home and they stay alive ( actually get leggy, so probably better to let them go dormant), and also have dug them up and divided the corms and saved them in peat moss in just brown paper lunch bags and stored in basement and replanted them in the spring. seems like each original corm can produce a bunch of corms...some get pretty prolific and produce I would day up to 25 or so per original corm. Also pretty drought tolerant and can neglect them.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I put them in a cute pot and give them away as gifts. They come right up. I tell my friends to bring them in in the winter. It's the gift that keeps on giving. I will keep purchasing them.

Did germinate

Submitted 4 years ago

By Plantlady

From Belmont, CA

I bought 7 bags and gave away a bunch to friends and none of us were able to get a single sprout. After waiting 2 months I contacted customer service and it took 2 weeks for me to hear back only to find out they reshipped my order. I'm super disappointed that I wasted so much time and energy on them and at this point I just wanted a refund which I expressed. Hopefully, the next set will at least germinate.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Q
The Oxalis Triangularis bulbs I received all had small, white growths on one end. Are these roots, or early growth? Which end goes down into the soil?
Asked by Wendy
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Burgundy Shamrock bulbs look a little bit like small pine cones. The more narrow end is where the new top growth emerges. I think this is what you are seeing. If you still can't tell which end is the top, plant them horizontally. The plants always find their way up.Was this answer helpful to you
