Triumph Tulip Ronaldo

Triumph Tulip Ronaldo

75%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
Unusually colored tulip makes a dramatic statement in the spring garden and a vase. Triumph Tulip Ronaldo features deep carmine-red, 4" blooms that are almost black toward the base and middle. It offers a nice change from the brighter colors of other spring-blooming bulbs. Growing 14-18" tall, Ronaldo is very long lasting in the garden and in indoor arrangements. It can also be grown in a container and forced indoors for Easter blooms. For the best garden performance, plant tulip bulbs in well-drained soil and in full sun to partial shade.

Did Not Disappoint!

These were gorgeous against our gray house. They were just tall enough to peak out from behind the shrubs where they were protected from the deer. I'll be ordering more.

This tulip is gorgeous. The lighter color on the edges makes it glow. The flowers are on long stems and held up well.

Probably my favorite color tulip. Color pretty much as pictured, kind of a dark maroon. A stunning contrast to other colors. Highly recommend!

Strong healthy tulips that are long lasting. Paired with the Triumph Tulip Pink and they looked lovely... the Ronaldo are a bit taller. Looking forward to next year's blooms and hoping for some additional volunteers.

Ronaldo tulips

Unfortunately Ronaldo did not do very well for me in the season 2022-23: possibly this was the effect of two very cold spells (in early winter and very early spring), which may have affected the bulbs I planted in pots. The ones in the ground did better over all, but some flowers were small and stunted.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Very late tulip. Bloomed after Mother's Day and lasted weeks in bloom. Great vase life too. Super long stem. I planted in a semi shaded area so maybe they were stretching for more light.

These tulips were so beautiful!! I paired them with the purple and white picotee Shirley tulips and they were beautiful together. Every one came up and every one bloomed!! I took many precautions to keep the moles from eating the bulbs. From enclosing the bulbs in fine fencing to spraying with castor oil and putting coffee grounds around them. It worked!!!

Questions & Answers

Q&A

Showing 3 out of 3 Questions

Q
Do the triumph Ronaldo tulips bloom only one year? Are they once and done or do they come back in subsequent years in zone 6?
Asked by Christopher
Verified Reply - AngelaUnder ideal growing conditions, Triumph Tulip Ronaldo can behave as a perennial. Most gardeners plant new bulbs each year for reliable color. If you want to encourage them to return, it's important to allow the foliage to die back naturally, keep the soil on the dryer side in summer and fertilize after blooming and again in the spring. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Should these Ronaldo tulips bloom at the same time as the Diamond Jubilee?
Asked by Cathi
Verified Reply - AngelaTriumph Tulips Ronaldo and Diamond Jubilee are both mid spring blooming tulips. They should bloom at approximately the same time. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Which Tulips can grow in zone 9 San Jose Ca 95148
Asked by Christine
Verified Reply - ViciTulips are recommended down to zone 8. If you choose to grow them in zone 9, you would need to chill the bulbs for 10 - 14 weeks in a refrigerator before you plant them. Once the bulbs have bloomed and the leaves die back, you will need to dig them each fall and repeat the chilling process. Was this answer helpful to you
