Q
We still have cold day with frozen ground. Like this morning 8F with snow on the ground. How do I store Papaver orientate Harlem (Oriental Poppy) root until it is safe to plant them?
Asked by Charles
Verified Reply - ViciThe best thing for you to do is to put them in a pot and store them in an unheated garage, shed or basement. They should stay dormant until the weather warms up. You could store them in their unopened bags in a cool place (under 50 degrees F) for a few weeks. Once the ground is not frozen they can be planted. Cold temperatures will not harm the dormant roots once they are in the ground. Was this answer helpful to you
