Great plant!

Submitted 2 years ago

By Nelet

From Flanders, NY

The bulb produced two 12- and 8-inches stems. Each of them had 6 buds that are opening every couple days. Flowers are gorges! I placed this beauty on the shelf a little bit higher our eye level so we can enjoy it. It's just fascinating how much positive vibes you can get from one bulb!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Q
Are these bulbs recommended for outdoor planting? Zone 9b Shade? Partial sun? Full sun here is scorching in mid summer.
Asked by JANETTE
Verified Reply - AngelaLucky you! The Harlequin Amaryllis can be grown outdoors all year in your zone 9b garden. They will do better if they receive 4 to 6 hours of morning sun and afternoon shade. They require little water so be sure to plant in an area with well draining soil. They do have tall stems and may require staking. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
I would like to purchase some amaryllis bulbs to give as gifts for next Christmas will they just stay dormant in the box they're shipped in? And will they be as good since they sat for a year?
Asked by Amy gifter
Verified Reply - AngelaI'm sorry but that's not going to work. You can order it and grow it this season. Then you can allow the bulb to go dormant and store it to give as a gift for next year.
