Asiatic Lily Orange Ton

Asiatic Lily Orange Ton

100%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
A showstopper, to be sure, Orange Ton produces plenty of impressive 8" trumpet lilies that turn their faces upward to let gardeners and visitors get a better look. The big, vivacious blooms are perfect for breathtaking indoor arrangements, adding both bright color and amazing texture to the scene. We suggest planting Orange Ton in groups for borders and beds that pop, or in even greater numbers for landscapes that burn bright with that warm orange hue this lily is famous for. A born perennializer, it will readily reappear year after year with increased bloom and vigor. Butterflies are attracted to its light, fine fragrance, too.

Beautiful blazing orange

Submitted 9 months ago

By Atomic Groundhog

From Knoxville, TN

I first planted these Orange Ton Lilies two years ago, and, although others planted at the same time grew very well, none of this variety grew. K. Von Bourgondien was great to work with and replaced them. This year, nearly every replacement bulb bloomed, and they were beautiful. We and the neighborhood pollinators greatly enjoyed the vibrant orange blooms.

Excellent grower

Resilient and hardy in the Atlanta area. They were even drought tolerant and survived the Georgia heat, no small feat! Well prepared, good draining soil, mulching and a little bone meal will go far to reap the spring color explosion.

Q&A

Showing 10 out of 18 Questions

Q
What does it mean when it says lift
Asked by N/a
Verified Reply - AngelaLifting means to dig up the bulb in the fall and store in a frost free location all winter. The bulbs can be planted again the following spring. The Asiatic Lily Orange Ton is suggested for growing zones 3 to 8. There is no lifting required in your zone. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can these be sent in the spring and planted in large pots?
Asked by Deb
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Asiatic Lily Orange Ton will be shipped in the spring. You can grow them in large pots. Just be sure the pot has drainage holes. In Minnesota, you will want to move to pot to an unheated garage or shed for winter. This will protect the bulbs from freezing solid. Just move the pot back out in the spring when the danger of a hard freeze has passed. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
How long do they bloom?
Asked by Becky
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Asiatic Lilies will bloom for approximately one month. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this Orange lily poisonous to dogs?
Asked by AVV
Verified Reply - ViciLilies are something you should be wary of around your pets, particularly your feline friends. Lilies, including Asiatic lilies and daylilies, can be toxic to both dogs and cats, however the effects are much more severe in cats. Dogs who ingest lilies do not develop renal failure but may experience minor gastrointestinal (GI) upset. Was this answer helpful to you

transplant established lily after foliage is showing
Asked by sue
Verified Reply - AngelaIt's best to transplant Asiatic Lilies in the early fall. Always prepare the new planting site before digging up the plant. They need to be replanted immediately. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
We live on Anna Maria Island which is located just inside zone 9 off the west coast of Fl near Bradenton. We have two species of Lily's that thrive in our back garden, blooming every Feb/March and spreading every year. The plants were there when we bought this house six years ago. If I send you some pics of last years blooms, can you identify them? We love the deep orange Asiatic lily on your website and want to buy them for the garden but are hesitant since they are barely in zone 9. Is it possible that some of the species can grow here, but others can't?
Asked by Always looking for colorful perenniels
Verified Reply - AngelaYou are welcome to send us some photos and we can try to help identify your existing lilies. It is possible that some types of lilies will do better than others. We don't currently suggest any of our lilies for zone 9. You may have a micro climate that creates a cooler area for them to thrive. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
When do you plant the bulbs? In the fall or next spring?
Asked by Jayne
Verified Reply - AngelaIf you order the Asiatic Lily Orange Ton now, we will ship them at the appropriate time for fall planting in your area. They should be planted when they arrive. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can the Asiatic lily Orange Ton be grown in zone nine
Asked by K
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Asiatic Lily Orange Ton is suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 3 to 8. It's likely too hot for the plant to perform well in zone 9.Was this answer helpful to you
