A truly stunning addition to the cutting garden, border or presentation bed, Big Smile features gorgeous 6" tricolor blooms of white accented beautifully with deep purple-red flames and yellow, star-shaped centers—a dazzling combo indeed. This Oriental lily is an excellent perennializer, dependably producing more lilies per stem each year. We suggest planting Big Smile where the out-facing flowers can be readily enjoyed by visitors or passersby. The flowers' lovely fragrance adds a sultry touch to evening strolls through the midsummer landscape. For best results, lily bulbs should be planted in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil, though it will tolerate some heavier soils.

Beautiful, big, bright red/white splash in the garden
What do I like about this. Everything. So eye-catching. What don't I like... the deer thinks so too. On the menu should we say. I haven't eaten them ..yet! But they are edible.

First ones were wrong, Second batch bloomed right!
K.Van is really good about refunding a purchase when they've shipped the wrong thing, which is what happened with my order of "Big Smile" in 2021. They came up and bloomed, and were not Big Smile, looking more like a Stargazer (but really, I have no idea). Instead of simply asking for a refund on these, I asked for replacements, which K.Van shipped in May of 2022. The first one bloomed today, and it's spot on, just like the picture shows. I'm hoping/hopeful that all of the replacements are the same at least. Overall, I've now had more than one Oriental/Asiatic type lily from K.Van as the wrong variety, the problem being that I have plants in the ground that I don't want. Please work with your suppliers to fix this problem, as the quality of the bulbs sent has been generally very nice, but I'm starting to feel like it's a gamble as to whether you're going to send me the right variety, or something completely different. While K.Van always "makes it right", it would also be tremendously helpful if K.Van would take the time to figure out what cultivar was sent BY MISTAKE...at least then I'd know what I got. So, there is room for improvement on this front, but on the whole, I remain a generally satisfied customer.
