Angel's Fishing Rod

Angel's Fishing Rod

As a focal point planting, this rare and unique ornamental grass is tops! Long, sword-shaped leaves reach 5' tall and arch gracefully to create a fountain effect in the landscape. From mid to late summer, delicate bell-shaped flowers in pink to purple hues dangle from the ends of the stems in a thoroughly enchanting fashion. Passing butterflies and other pollinators are attracted to the open flower form and bright color. Plant in well-drained, lightly moist soil for best results.

Q
how long before blooming after planting?

Q
If grown as an annual in the ground in Zone 4 (MN), how large would this grow and how much would it flower in a 3-4 month growing season? If grown in container, could it be overwintered in a basement?
Asked by shelley
Verified Reply - AngelaI don't think you can expect a good show as an annual. Like all perennials it will take some time to establish a root system before putting out blooms. You can grow it in a large pot and overwinter in an unheated basement or garage. It will look stunning in containers. Just be sure the pots have drainage holes and just lightly water about once a month while in winter storage. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
