Perhaps the best-known group of narcissus, many of these large trumpet daffodils such as 'King Alfred' have been favorites since Victorian times. Multiplying freely, these terrific naturalizers have a long blooming season. Large flowers, with trumpets as long as or longer than the flower petals.

These giant trumpet daffodils in the mix package arrived firm, undamaged and ready to plant. I planted them in mid October zone 9b to find them popping up early spring, bright, showy with hardy wind tolerant stems (didn't need to stake them this year). Our weather is wet 6 mos out of a typical year with rare snowfall over 8inches so I was highly happy to see these trumpet #daffodils bloom. They lasted 1.5 months with varied warmer to cooler evening temps so that was another pleasant surprise. I'll be ordering more daffodils this fall/winter but ones that thrive in part sun/part shade for a forested area. Would I buy giant trumpet thru Dutch Bulbs or K Van bourgondien again? Yes All Day without hesitance! #sweepstakes

Lots bloomed

There were more than 25 bulbs in the bag- 24 have 1-2 blooms this year and I count 7 other plants that made leaves but no flower- I think the bag had around 35-40 bulbs, which was nice. I planted them in the fall- so I was not expecting a lot of flowers the first year. 85% of them are the same yellow color which bloomed first, and now a few have bloomed that are yellow with an orange middle, and there are a few that look like they MIGHT be a different color but it's hard to tell. I wish there had been more variety, but I'll buy another mix of a different size maybe and hope for more variety next year. Id still recommend' !

Strong blooms but all the same

These were all the same basic yellow daff. Just complained about another supposed color mix of muscari and was told a mix bag is still considered mixed even if it's all the same color. Not impressed. Ordered a mix because I wanted a variety.

Since you asked: they didn't do a thing. Of the entire mix, only 3 sprouted, 1 leaf each. Very disappointed. This has happened with a couple recent orders we've made with you. We used to order from you frequently, and sang your praises. Not so much anymore.

Buyer beware every single bulb that came up was plain yellow. When I inquired about it they said that's the luck of the draw. Sorry?

Q
I apologize for my ignorance on this matter. My daudghter is getting married in lateapril in Savannah Georgia. Can I plant the bulbs ,after storing them in a walk-in cooler,in late January (is this the correct time ???) for them to be in full bloom April 24th.I realize exactitude isn't possible ,but topologically can we plant them x-number of weeks before we want the best blooming. I again thank you for your insight into what we're trying to do Thank you Gary butch
Asked by Gary
Verified Reply - ViciIt is never recommended to try to plant bulbs for a wedding. I would suggest that you check with your local county extension office to see how many weeks after planting they should bloom. Weather is a big factor. The bulbs need about 10 weeks of chilling in order to bloom. Good luck with your venture! Was this answer helpful to you
