Slow to start but are doing well

Submitted 3 years ago

By Chakai

From Fishers, Indiana

I planted these in Fall of 2020 and they didn't do much the first year. I am very pleased to see them doing well this year and they seem to be spreading, which is what I wanted. I am buying more. I think they will make a great ground cover in my front garden. It was a bit difficult to determine the top from bottom when planting but researching told me that it didn't matter other than that it would take longer for the first bloom if upside down.

Still blooming in November

Submitted 3 years ago

By Neal

From Atlanta, GA

These are the only flowers which are blooming right now (in November). I'm in Atlanta, so the weather is still reasonably warm. My hardy cyclamen are planted in shady areas, so they have taken several years to get established. The soil is heavy clay. At first, I thought none of the plants had survived, but then I noticed occasional blooms. There were no leaves at all, until the following spring, when 1 or 2 leaves appeared. It's been 3 years now and I have dozens of blooms, which are quite visible against the brown fallen leaves from my oak trees. I didn't notice any cyclamen leaves yet, but the plants appear to be quite happy. My wife even picked a few blooms, which last a week or so. The stems are short, so they are in a shot glass, instead of a vase. Overall, I'm happy with these flowers, since they bloom for months and add some welcome color to my yard when not much else is blooming. Also, the leaves are quite attractive (deep green with lighter colored veining). I would recommend them, with the understanding that they can take a few years to fully develop, especially since they are low maintenance.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

CYCLAMEN

Submitted 4 years ago

By dskentl

From Maine

None of them ever came up. I planted them in a variety of places hoping at least one would find a happy home and come up. I did this as a precaution because I have ordered these from other sites and never had any luck in the past either. I live in zone 5 and perhaps the weather had something to do with it.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Did Not Grow

Submitted 4 years ago

By Not Happy

From West Texas

I ordered two bags of this mix. I planted them right when I received them and followed the planting instructions. These little guys should have done well! However, only three of them came up (yes, only three from 2 orders) and only two of them have survived. By survived, I mean that they have a leaf each. Everything else in the bed with them is doing amazing. Everything else in the full shade bed is super happy. Just not these cyclamen. I am super disappointed and will never order from K. van Bourgondien again because of these bulbs.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
