Species Crocus Mix

Species Crocus Mix

83%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
Random mixture of colors in purple, white and yellow hues is sure to delight when the flowers open in late winter to early spring. Growing 4-6" tall, these hardy bulbs cheerfully announce the arrival of spring. Species Crocus Mix is a wonderful addition to rock gardens, containers and borders. Because they bloom early, before many deciduous trees leaf out and before lawn-mowing season, they can also be planted in woodlands and lawns. They're a good complement to Giant Crocus. Crocus bulbs multiply rapidly, so you'll enjoy more blooms every year. For the best effect, plant crocus bulbs in groups of 10 or more.

These are doing well, the yellow is vibrant and when the mixed colors are with the daffodils they really pop. Currently my daffodils are a little behind and I am looking forward to them catching up.

Croci are Brave

The croci were coming up in mid-late March and were hit by 2 feet of snow. It melted and they resumed opening up at Easter time. But another snowstorm is predicted this week up there in the mountains of NH, so the saga is incomplete. However, I give the little guys high marks so far and expect to see them smiling in the sun soon.

Perennial Tribute

I planted my crocuses on my parents' graves. They grew and blossomed beautifully. I love that that they are early bloomers and are not harmed by mowing. They come back every year and multiply as a perennial tribute to parents. Perfect!

Cute with mini dadfocils

From East Texas

I tossed these in the yard and planted where they fell with some mini daffodils mixed in. I used a bulb auger and a cordless drill and this fun afternoon of activity is providing a nice spring welcome.

Disappointed so far

My crocuses have been slow to emerge (we can blame that on our slow spring). They're very small. So far only white ones.

They were well packaged and good looking bulbs in good shape. The assortment of colors are great, I really like the yellow ones. I've ordered from other places before and you usually get white, purple mixtures.

Q
Crocus Can zone incompatibility be overcome by storing bulbs that need exposure to cold for their chill hours, are stored in a refrigerator? How long would you need to store a potted Crocus in the refrigerator for zone 10? Would these do great if they were used entirely as houseplants? Thank you!
Asked by Bo
Verified Reply - AngelaYou can chill the bulbs for 12 to 14 weeks and then force blooming inside in zone 10. After forcing the bulbs should be discarded as they are spent. They won't grow all year indoors but they are enjoyed in the late winter. Was this answer helpful to you
