Hyacinth Miss Saigon

Hyacinth Miss Saigon

As wonderfully scented as they are striking in the border or landscape, fragrant hyacinths have become a staple in many a home garden. Miss Saigon sports an abundance of rich violet-purple florets that cover a compact flower spike of 8-12" tall, the perfect size for window boxes, container gardens or front border plantings. We love to see colorful hyacinths pop up between evergreen trees or shrubs in March to April. They bring a lively sense of style to the areas so recently vacated by the snows of winter. They also mix well with ground cover plants and perennials. Plant bulbs in full sun to part shade for best results.

Performed well for a second year!

Submitted 11 months ago

By Flower maximalist

From Zone 7a

One of my favorites - the ones I planted previously came back and bloomed well for a second year, and the additional ones I planted are looking gorgeous and smelling heavenly. The ones I'd planted originally are in full sun, while the new ones are in half-shade, so they bloomed a couple weeks later and extended my hyacinth season well into April.

In addition to planting some of these in a container, I also planted them in my parents' garden. They looked fantastic! Definitely recommend these.

Planted some of these bulbs in a container and overwintered them in an unheated closet. They bloomed in early March and were beautiful!

Doing great in their second year and planted more

Submitted 1 year ago

By Flower maximalist

From Zone 7a

These hyacinths really do have a lovely intense color, so I planted another 25 after last year's did so well. All the new ones appear to have come up, and all but one of last year's blooms returned for a second time. The ones from last year still have nice full flower heads too and didn't come back straggly.

Bulbs did not Flourish

I tried forcing some bulbs indoors and planted the rest outdoor in containers. All the bulbs outside barely came up (1/2 inch) and the ones indoor rapidly grew tall green leaves but the flower portion was mostly dry. Other spring bulbs are all coming up except for these so huge disappointment.

Pretty color, good bloom rate

Very pretty color with a touch more pink than the picture. Nice large bulbs with 22/25 (88%) bloom rate (and pretty sure one of the duds was a bulb I damaged by accident).

Q
Do you carry hyacinths in 17/18 size

Q
why when in water when you get it the water stink sand when should you put it in the ground
Asked by LaRenta
Verified Reply - ViciYou can grow hyacinths in water in a bulb vase or in a jar with pebbles in the bottom. The water should not stink and you should add water as the water is used up. The water level should be just below the bulb. The bulb should not be sitting in the water. It can be planted in the ground once the flowers have faded. You can also plant the bulbs in the ground when you receive them in the fall if you like. Most hyacinths grow in zones 3 to 9. They must have cold temperatures of 40 to 45°F for at least 12 to 14 weeks. If temperatures in your area do not get this cold, you’ll need to pre-chill the bulbs in a refrigerator before planting them. Was this answer helpful to you
