Karma Dahlias Lagoon®

Karma Dahlias Lagoon®

Large, purple-blue flowers make eye-catching bouquets and fresh floral arrangements. Karma dahlias were developed for the cut-flower market in Holland and are known for their extraordinarily strong stems and almost iridescent colors. We first came across this new series of dahlias while visiting the Verwer Brothers a few years ago in their trial gardens and were captivated.  Karma Dahlia Lagoon's fully double flowers measure up to 5 1/2" across and the color is phenomenal. Growing 32" tall, the plants produce plenty of blooms in midsummer and keep flowering until the first fall frost.

A great addition to my garden!

All 5 tubers grew magnificently! I had to stake them several times to keep them from falling over. When I just dug them up for winter storage I got at least 10 times the tubers from each plant!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

A stunning color in the dahlia border as well as in bouquets. However, it is my dinner plate dahlia that steals the bouquet show!

This one just keeps blooming. Great color; a little shorter than I expected but the stems are decent.

Nice Purple

From Ypsilanti, Michigan

Started 5 of these on pots in April, planted in May and blooming strong by mid-July. Blooms 4 inches max. Stems tend to be short so less ideal for cut flowers. Blooms a bit darker purple than website photos.

Planted these late in mid June. Starting from September until frost in mid November had the most beautiful, picture perfect flowers. Mine stayed at a nice 3.5 feet tall and gave many nice cut flowers. Dug tubers up and plan to start them inside this spring.

Q&A

Q
what type soil and depth?
Asked by finn
Verified Reply - ViciDahlias will tolerate most soils as long as they are well drained. You want to plant them with the top of the tuber (where the sprouts are) about two inches below the soil. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Hello, I just brought the karma Dahlia Lagoon and wanted to know if they will be good container plants and also if you have any specific planting and care instruction. I live in Seattle, so it is too cold to plant the bulbs
Asked by Usha
Verified Reply - KimberlyYes, Dahlias may be planted in containers. Choose pots or containers with at least 12 inches deep and wide for each dahlia tuber. Make sure pots are well draining. Potting soil also needs to be well draining. ... Add slow release general purpose fertilizer to potting soil, organic is best. Was this answer helpful to you
