Double Late Tulip Mix

Double Late Tulip Mix

100%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
Mix of vivid colors and large, double flowers create an impressive display in the garden and the vase. Double Late Tulip Mix is a random mix of popular double tulips that bloom in very late spring. A perennial favorite, these spectacular blooms are also known as peony tulips due to their large number of petals. Growing 20-24" tall, they often have blooms that reach 4" across when fully open. Due to their size, they perform best when protected from severe wind and rain. Double Late Tulip Mix makes a big impact when planted in groups in flower beds and borders. For the best results, plant tulip bulbs in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.

My mix was a blend of warm colors. I was hoping for just a little more mix. These started blooming during Illinois first 80° weather the first week of may. I can tell if a rain would have came the flowers would have immediately been destroyed. Luckily we've had a dry week!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Came up in all yellow

Submitted 3 years ago

By Trina

From Holland, MI

While these tulips are beautiful, they came up in only yellow. ALL the tulips (200 bulbs that I ordered in various colors) came up in the wrong colors. When I called customer service, they were only going to give me a partial refund and would not give me the manager. After calling back multiple times, I finally got an agent who issued me store credit. However, I'm considered about ordering from them again since I had so many tulips come up incorrectly. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this company. I would not recommend using them unless you're open to a "surprise".

beautiful flowers- but only 2 colors...

By PJ Benyei

From Yonkers, NY

First, I have to say, the bulbs were great size and quality, now that they are in bloom, they really aren't that late- which I think is a Great thing after NY winters- they were about 4 days behind my early Triumph in the same bed, and a day or two before my Darwins- and all beds were a week or more apart depending on how close they were to my wall and how much late sun (warm) they get- so don't let early/late stop you. My complaint is there were only 2 colors- a mostly red with mild orangey edge highlights and a bright yellow with distinct red stripes throughout. Nothing even remotely pinkish, whitish, purpleish- ONLY red with orangey tinges OR yellow with intense red stripes- period. there wasn't even variation within the colors. I bought 100. I have about 50 identical reds and 50 identical yellows. Im still very pleased. They were really good quality bulbs, grew tall ( for this type of tulip) huge flowers with tons of petals, surprisingly good for cutting, for a double. They are definitely high quality bulbs with HUGE beautiful flowers on tall stems (tall for doubles- don't expect these to grow like Darwins) I'm just a little disappointed. I hate to think they sell a "mix" when what they mean is "whatever didn't sell." I did buy other mixes this year from this company that turned out great. I coudn't be more pleased with the quality, I would just like maybe, out of 100 tulips to have something that isnt primary color yellow/red.. A little white, or pink or purple, even a yellow without a red stripe would have looked great in my girly powder rooms - unfortunately, they'll have to stay outside. I will definitely order from this company again and I will but their double late tulips- they really are peony-like, but I'll pay the extra couple bucks to pick my own colors next time. I know making a decision is hard, as is passing up a bargain- but I recommend it- becasue someone is picking colors, its just not you.

Stunning double tulip variety but only a few grew

Submitted 4 years ago

By cloohoo

From OH

The tulips that grew were absolutely beautiful - multiple petals and very bright and beautiful colors (I had only fushia and orange ones) and the flowers lasted a long time. But only a very small number of them lived and the rest did not grow at all. So wish all had lived - would have been really gorgeous. Am pleased though with customer service's working with me regarding the poor survival. Not sure if my ordering them very late in the year made a difference in the quality? This is a very pretty variety.

Q
Are these tulips pre cooled or pre chilled?

Q
Hi, Do these Double Late Blooming Tulips come back every year and do they multiply? Thanks.
Asked by NP1
Verified Reply - AngelaTulips are technically perennial but many will only come back under ideal growing conditions. Most gardeners will plant new bulbs each year to guarantee color. There are some tulips that are reliably perennial such as Darwin Hybrids. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
I am interested in starting a cut flower garden with the end goal of selling bouquets at the farmers market. Do you have any information on the quantity of harvestable flowers per plant for your different bulbs?
Asked by market gal
Verified Reply - AngelaI love the local flower movement and wish you great success. Tulips are generally one flower stem per bulb. I would suggest Gladiolus for cut flowers. Again, one stem per bulb. You might consider Dahlias since each tuber will provide dozens of flowers. Lilies will multiply for you and sometimes provide multiple flower stems. Peonies will take about three years to bloom but have many fragrant blooms in the early spring. I hope that helps and let us know if you have any further questions. Was this answer helpful to you
