Dramatically colored and ruffled flowers create a sensation in the mid to late spring garden. Parrot Tulip Black Parrot features deep wine red petals with black edges. Growing on 20", sturdy stems, they're very showy in a vase, too. With their exotic shape, color and design, these sensational tulips resemble their namesake tropical birds. Parrot tulips are the largest and most spectacular of all tulips. Plant them in focal spots for a dazzling floral sensation. They're a decorator's delight! Tulip bulbs perform best when planted in well-drained soil and in full sun to partial shade.

Here in zone 8b, I struggle with tulips. Lots of refrigeration! But out of many, many tulips planted, these were a success, beautiful, tall, and sturdy!

Excellent blooming percentage and a long lasting flower. My only, (and minor), disappointment is thatthe side color stripes were very faint. Otherwise, an unusual and intense rich dark tulip.

Very inconsistent

All the bulbs produced foliage, but only about 2/3 produced flowers. Those that did flower did so at wildly different times. Stems are not very sturdy. I'll be pulling these out of my garden and replacing them with Grand Perfection and Avant Garde which did perform marvelously.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

I was thrilled with these bulbs. Almost all came up and bloomed the first year. They are tall and very long lasting. I planted some in areas of poorer soil and saw a dramatic difference between happier ones. Good soil will make a difference. Here are unedited photos of the first to bloom.

Gorgeous blooms but not all bulbs bloomed

Colors were as expected and gorgeous shape, however only about a third bloomed - in a patch with other tulips that did great, so not sure what happened there.
