For a floral display with style, beauty and color, a generous planting of Uchida Lily is always a hit. Down-facing, warm pink blooms edged in white and speckled in darker pink create an eye-catching show in borders, feature beds and cutting gardens. The fragrant, deeply recurved blooms are wonderfully long lived in the garden and very hardy. Pollinators such as butterflies are drawn to their soft scent and will likely be regular visitors to the landscape. Showy yet very easy to grow.

Strong 1st year flowers

Submitted 2 months ago

By Prairie gardener

From SD

I planted them in large pots and they produced strong stems with 2-3 flowers per stem. Scent was heavenly. I moved them to permanent location in the fall and look forward to next year!

Q&A

Q
A groundhog likes the blooms of a day lily growing in my yard but never harms leaves. The groundhog often eats just the growing tips of native asters and mulberry, pruning them and assuring new, (presumably) vitamin rich shoots for further snacking throughout the growing season. How likely is it a groundhog might eat the blooms of this plant? Are they known to be poisonous? Thanks.
Asked by Jan
Verified Reply - AngelaI think it's very likely your groundhog will like the buds of Lily Uchida. There is conflicting information about their toxicity for groundhogs. It sounds like your groundhog is streetwise enough to discern which plants are edible and how to prune for best production. ( :Was this answer helpful to you
