I planted half of the plants I purchased and gave half to a friend. We waited and waited and thought they had died. But they just took awhile to root and start growing. I don't think I will see flowers in the first year, but I have many very healthy plants. I look forward for them to mature.

Planted these a year ago and have my first blooms. Be patient and make sure your planting area is well draining soil and mostly shaded.

We have not seen these orchids grow at all. We are very sad because we love orchids.

Check your soil and sunlight everyone. I planted these five years ago in zone 8B. Part sun. Soil was a mix of sand, peat moss and bagged dirt in a 2.5 foot elevated garden. They rec'vd morning sun and afternoon shade. 90% of bulbs bloomed and others I believe dyg up or eaten by critters. Beautiful colors of purple and white in my batch. Last year they had multiplied. Unfortunately we sold the property last year. Now in zone 8A and a new sunny property, I will be planting again in between a mini forest of trees in the back yard.

I ordered these for my shade garden last year. I was disappointed at first because I was positive I planted them upside down or did something wrong. They never grew. Well, guess what...I was wrong. A little bit of reading about these guys informed me that die to the time of year I planted them, I wasn't going to see anything right away. Eventually I had some greenery but no flowers. These orchids growing patterns differ greatly depending on when and where they are planted. Many times they just need one or two hard frosts before they put forth flowers. This year my patience paid off! I have a couple of big, beautiful plants with the most delicate and pretty little orchid flowers. Bottom line, have patience, be smart and realize that some of the best flowers in your garden will take a year or two to establish and put forth what you see in the picture.

...the 3 rhizomes arrived healthy...planting instructions were not appropriate to growth habit exhibited in the three sections and typical to creeping rhizomes; that is to say that the sections had chlorophyll function as evident in the dark green coloration on the rhizome...they seem to be doing just fine with the rhizome planted slightly above the terrestial orchid mix i made especially for this plant...they are all 3 sprouting now...hope it works out - maybe even see some flowers the first season!

The bulbs look very healthy and are already starting to bud. The packaging clearly states "Hardy Ground Orchid Mix."
