Gorgeous artwork in my garden

Submitted 4 years ago

By Robin

From Central Coastal CA farming village

Even though our house is set back from the road, I planted these incredible dahlias in front of the house--people would stop by just to say how much like a painting they looked! They were healthy, came out right and stayed long! Splendid in front of the house, equally beautiful in a vase on the table! The only thing--the blooms are so huge and heavy that I had to brace the stems because our soil is soft and the weight started to tip them over!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

These blooms brought so much joy because they are so round and beautiful. We never saw any yellow, but it didn't matter. This gorgeous flower did have purple undertones .Some of the blooms were at least 10 inches across. Growing them this season for a "bridal flower" instead of a Bouquet.

Q
I find that many dahlias produce a lot of flowers but the stems are really too short for good cut flowers. Which dahlias have longer stems AND are deer resistant? Tx in advance.
Asked by bob
Verified Reply - AngelaAll Dahlias are considered deer resistant. To get long stemmed dahlias, make your cuts back to one of the main uprights. You will lose some buds but it encourages more long stems. The Karma series of Dahlias is bred for long stems.
