A compact variety, English Lavender Hidcote is right at home at the front of a mixed border or as a standalone planting. Clusters of tiny, blue-purple florets top 16-18" stems, and scent the entire area over a long summer flowering period with their signature perfume. Used in potpourris when dried, or bouquets when picked fresh—this is a versatile perennial perfect for full-sun sites. Easy to grow and maintenance free, once established.

Pruning Instructions:
Prune right after the first flowering and again in late August after the last flush has faded. Cut off about 2/3 of the plant's height or to just above the bottom two sets of leaves on each stem. Take care not to cut into the woody part of the plant which can cause damage.

Came back in Zone 4b
I bought this last year because I've always wanted lavender. I live in Minnesota Zone 4b, and this is Zone 5 and above, so I figured it would be an annual. Surprise! It came back and is doing well. Smells great.

In the picture that says arrives as shown, you want that whole picture shown planted under ground, the top just under the surface. Correct?

- Verified Reply - AngelaLooking at the photo, the roots are below and the crown begins where it looks cinched. You want to plant so the crown is just below the soil level. Dig the hole deep enough to accommodate the roots without bending them. Position in the hole so the crown is just barely below the soil level and back fill with soil. Any green leaves and brown stems should remain above ground. Remember, Lavender needs well draining soil and does not appreciate being over watered.
