Double Tulip Avant Garde

Double Tulip Avant Garde

100%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
One look and our garden pros fell in love with this exquisite new double-flowered tulip. Avant Garde is an amazingly lush variety in a refreshing, clean hue of pale lemon yellow—an unusual shade for tulips. The luxuriant, fully double blooms so closely resemble peonies, at first glance even seasoned garden pros won't be able to tell the difference. Strong stems keep the heavy blooms upright and highly visible in the garden or vase. However, for best results, we suggest planting Avant Garde in an area that affords some protection from unexpected spring storms and high wind. A fantastic choice for cutting gardens or feature beds!

Amazing

These are my favorite tulip. Everyone thinks they're peonies and argue when me when I tell them they're not. Unlike peonies, when they open they stay open for almost 2 weeks before losing their petals. They start a light yellow and will fade to an ivory color in the sun. They're early blooming so I normally pair them with a mid season purple or pink.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

These tulips are as pretty as a picture. I planted them in a protected area beneath a small hydrangea with southern exposure to protect them from wind as recommended. I planted them with grape hyacinths as in the photo. They did not bloom as early as I expected but just near the end of bloom time for most of my Darwin tulips. They are still blooming beautifully over a week after they opened. I plan to add more for next year. This is my first year with these peonie-type tulips so we will see whether or not they rebloom (I have read that most won't). Just lovely!

These were some of my earliest tulips to bloom. Not only were they gorgeous, but they smelled magnificent! They were lushly layered and were about 4 inches across with long stems for arranging. Several of the stems were quite curved which is only negative to these blooms. Pictured with Akebono tulips.

Every bulb came up beautifully! Strong stems hold up these exquisitely full, butter cream flowers (note: they come up green and mature to a warm ivory). No flopping here!
