Giant Ball Dahlia Hapet Daydream

Compact grower with relatively small heads. Did well to survive in the heat of the summer in zone 7b. Bloomed fine during the cooler months. Not very good as a cut flower due to the compact habit.

I want to come back here and share the response I received from the company. I'm shocked! I was refunded the amount I paid for the bulbs and I was given additional credit for a future purchase. I didn't know there was a guarantee. Completely unexpected and well done! Thank you. I probably wouldn't recommend this dahlia but I would definitely recommend the company.

I ordered these a couple of years ago and they were stunning but didn't survive the winter (zone 8b is borderline for leaving them in the ground). So I ordered more to replace them and they are nothing like what I'd received before. All yellow blooms with no hint of the pink and purple hues that make this dahlia so striking. They are robust plants but I'll be digging and tossing.

Add my Hapet's Daydream to the ones that are mostly yellow with a small red, not remotely pink, center. If I wanted a small, bright yellow dahlia I would have ordered this one. But I wanted something entirely different. The frustrating thing is that by the time they bloomed it was too late to buy, plant and grow any other dahlia. Also I have a very large perennial flower border that wraps around the back yard. I carefully placed 5 of this dahlia in areas where the color would complement the perennial flowers. The color did not fit the color palette AT ALL. I had an issue with another variety of dahlia that I ordered. I'm not sure I will order from this company again.

Plants all came up, but the blooms were all yellow and wouldn't even open fully. Just got as far as in the photo and then would turn brown and die.

The tubers I received were a different variety entirely BUT the variety I did get produced many blooms of two different varieties but same colors.

I was very excited for these dahlias, however, I was unable to plant them due to the tubers arriving with leafy gall. I discarded them as I didn't want to introduce that into my garden. Won't be ordering again.

Wow, I couldn't have asked for a better experience as novice dahlia grower. The half dozen I added to my garden provided more blooms than I could use as cut flowers. I found myself giving bouquets to my friends. The colors of these dahlias we're spectacular. I also found that the tubers had multiplied tremendously.
