Huge, velvety, deep red blooms add drama and elegance to the late summer garden. Mingus Alex Dinnerplate Dahlia features up to 8" flowers and is the ultimate showstopper in the garden. These dahlias make an ideal focal point in the backs of borders and more, thanks to their huge flower size—blooms are literally the size of a dinner plate! Best of all, they take little to no special effort to grow, yet will flower all season long until the first frost. They're excellent as cut flowers, too. Deer tend to pass them by.

I ordered the dinnerplate Mingus Alex but it was not what I received. I submitted a claim and received a voucher that I will use to hopefully re-order the Mingus Alex. What I received was a similar colored dahlia but decorative 2 1/2 inch size. Thank you for resolving the mis-shipment!!

A lot of blooms, but a few tubers were on the small side. The flowers are not more than 3 inches, however. Pretty enough, true to photo and description.

I wouldn't call them dinnerplate

These flowers are gorgeous, but they definitely are not dinnerplate sized. They varied from 2.5-4" across. Next to the other dinnerplate varieties I purchased, these are laughably small. I will definitely grow them again, just maybe in a different section of the garden.

Prolific gorgeous color, but not dinnerplate

I grew these summer of 22. The clumps were huge, although I had to remove many, nearly all tubers on some because their necks had been badly broken.. I think one had 3 in tact the others only 2. It didnt slow them down one beat! They were one of the 1st to bloom, bloomed non stop prolifically in a petal packed deep burgundy almost to black at center. The problem I had was the blooms were small. 3-4" across at most. I got 8-10" and larger on the other dinnerplates I bought from longfield. sometimes I give away tubers that dont grow as planned, but im thrilled to have them in my collection despiteits small flowers. Just manage your expectations on flower size.

Amazing Tubers!

These arrived in terrific shape - the tubers were nice and plump, a good size, and the clumps had very few broken off bits, which can sometimes be an issue with shipping dahlia clumps.

Nice big blooms. Blooms start out in a really dark red and lighten as they get older. They last a long time.
