Meh

Took a while to come up, some did not. Most are blooming, but they look nothing like the pictures. Colors are muted, 1 red and the rest a lavender pink. Not impressed.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

I've planted these 3 times from K. van Bourgondien. The first time I had these gorgeous flowers. But then my dog ate the bulbs... the others didn't come up!

Q
Will the anemones bloom this year if they are just planted in the spring when they arrive? I thought they need to be planted in the fall.
Asked by Kimberly
Verified Reply - AngelaAnemone coronaria De Caen should bloom the first summer after planting. They can be planted in the fall in zones 7 to 10. Those in colder zones 3 to 6 should plant the bulbs in the spring. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
I have anemone hollande and I was wondering how far back do I clip the flowers once they have died off to spark new growth? Do I cook right under the bed flower bed or three to four inches from the ground? Only half of the ones I purchased have come up but I planted them kind of late so we'll have to wait and see here yet this spring if the rest of them come up and look as pretty as the ones that did come up. Thank you

Verified Reply - AngelaYou can cut the spent Anemone flowers but leave the foliage to die back naturally. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
This is really a comment. I bought some about eight years ago (autumn 2013) and have been wanting more. However, in recent years, they have always been sold out. While I don't know what percentage came up originally, (no problem) they might be deceiving in that they bloom over a very long period. They are usually among the first to bloom. In fact, I saw one a couple of weeks ago (early January). Some are usually still around when the Lilies star, late May to early June. In addition, in recent years, I have been discovering that they are naturalizing ... popping up in places I didn't plant. To describe my situation - I am a senior citizen with over 6 acres of land (mostly pasture), in an unusual climate. Technically Zone 7 (+), NOAA says that this foothills area has no month with an average low below freezing (it went down to 10 degrees once, years ago) and no month that averages over 90 degrees. I highly recommend this easy and cheerful flower.
