Very pretty but mediocre bloom rate

Submitted 2 years ago

By Flower maximalist

From Zone 6b

Pretty flowers, with multiple blooms per bulb (up to 6)! However, the overall bloom rate was a bit disappointing with only 106/200 sprouting. Came a few weeks later than expected.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

In Fall '22, I planted 300 of these tiny bulbs in a random 3' border assortment and the first growing season in '23 is exciting and refreshing instead of just drab winter grass!

Blooms are slightly more purple than the product pictures, but maybe that's due to soil pH? Regardless, they're very cute and a perfect pop of color to welcome the start of Spring!

Very pretty and cute little flowers

Submitted 3 years ago

By Carly

From Indiana

I was worried they wouldn't come up because the description said early spring so when my crocus and muscari were blooming and I saw no growth I thought they died. But they did come up and bloomed around the time of the hyacinths. They are bluer than the customer photo shows...but my camera makes them look more purple.

Planted under big maple tree where I could not get anything to grow. First year few blooms, second year lots of blooms. Heres hoping third year will be better yet. I plan on buying more to plant in the lawn. Extra bonus, the squirrels seem to leave them alone!

Beautiful flowers

Submitted 5 years ago

By Nancy

From Grand Rapids, MI

I planted 100 bulbs 4 years ago. This year they were thick and beautiful. You have to be patient. They are planted in part sun/part shade. I have seen a few popping up in our yard, which is fine. They come back up if you mow they down. I gave it a 4 star only because it took a while for they to thicken up. They are a beautiful early spring flower. I would plant them again.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Verified Reply - AngelaEarly Snow Glories can bloom for about 3 to 4 weeks. We suggest these bulbs for zones 3 to 8. You can chill the bulbs and then force inside in zone 10. I don't think there are bulbs that last any longer than Snow Glories. Was this answer helpful to you

Q
what do you mean by "naturalizes well"
Asked by Diana
Verified Reply - ViciThe term “naturalized bulbs” was originally used in botany to refer to bulbs that grow and multiply freely in nature. If you’ve ever seen meadows full of crocuses or clearings in the woods where snowdrops take over in the spring, you’ll know what this means. Was this answer helpful to you
