Lush as a summer rose, but with a delightful twist, this variety is sure to have begonia lovers rushing to get as many tubers as their gardens can handle! Amerihybrid Picotee Apricot & Pink Begonia Mix features a stunning blend of apricot and pink blooms, each with a little something extra to endear them to you—a reverse picotee pattern with a delicate, white edge that highlights their richer, deeper shades. The begonia blooms in this mix are huge—5-6" wide, and sometimes even reach 8"! They make lovely displays in hanging baskets, container gardens and window boxes. Vigorous Grower

Submitted 3 years ago

By Z

From Seattle, WA

Although I wasn't expecting it, it completely took over my 24"x24" container, as you'll see in the picture. I'd put some liriopes in the corners and this basically swallowed them. Flowers were an appropriate mix of colors, very pretty. The pink was a little underperforming in terms of color (most were salmon and white) but it was balanced by the smaller, far more saturated pinks. The apricot had a vague lace to it. Foliage also varied from deep green to more grassy green. Overall, completely exceeded expectations and bloomed nearly until November. Also!! I forgot to lift it, and left it in the container overwinter. A particularly nasty winter for the PNW with one arctic storm bringing us down into the 10's with snow and ice! I did cover the container and pull them against the house, but I didn't expect any of the plants to survive it. To my complete surprise, there are now 4 sprouts coming up from it!

Q
I live in zone 8a. Would the bulbs survive the winter in a shade bed if I mulched it well?
Asked by Patsy
Verified Reply - ViciThe information that I have tells me to lift the bulbs in zone 3-8. If you live in a neighborhood where you have a lot of cement and roads, this could keep your soil warm in the winter. You might check with local gardeners to see if begonias survive in your zone if you mulch them, or give it a try. It might depend on whether you have a mild or harsh winter. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Are the Amerihybrid Picotee Begonias deer resistant?
Asked by Gina
Verified Reply - ViciThese begonias are considered to be deer resistant but as you know, deer will eat anything if they are hungry enough. Was this answer helpful to you
