The velvety deep purple, cup-shaped flowers have a lovely violet hue on the outer petals. Growing 4-6" tall, these hardy flowers are a delightful addition to rock gardens, containers and borders—and they're a wonderful complement to Giant Crocus. Because they bloom early, before many deciduous trees leaf out and before lawn-mowing season, species crocus can be planted in woodlands and lawns. Crocus bulbs multiply rapidly, so you'll enjoy more blooms every year. For the best effect, plant crocus bulbs in groups of 10 or more.

Poor Performance :-(

Really expected more from these. I ordered 4 QTY (that's 100 bulbs!!) and have only seen THREE teeny blooms. They're cute, but out of 100 this is disappointing. As another customer mentioned, mine were also spindly. Still hoping maybe I'll get some more come up in zone 6b, but for now I can give these 1 star only. It would be amazing if they do all show up and naturalize. PS--I also ordered 4 QTY of the IRIS RETICULATA ALIDA (so 100 of these too) MOST of these came up and they look outstanding for such little flowers.
