Great addition to the garden

Submitted 10 months ago

By Mick

From NC

I ordered 50 blue Dutch iris last fall. 46 bloomed this spring. The 4 that didn't fell victim to a mole/vole. The quality of the bulbs and flowers are 5 stars!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

5% bloom rate

By Eyes Bigger than Trowel

From New England

My daughter purchased 75 in 2021. Fewer than 5 came up first spring/summer, and only 2 bloomed. This (second) year, a grand total of one came up! To be fair, it did bloom. I purchased 6 bags (150) in 2022. About 30 came up this spring, and of those, 7 bloomed. This is not a user error. I am an avid gardener with 55 years of experience and A LOT of Siberian, German, Japanese, AND Dutch Irises, all of which are thriving in our soils. We're in the right zones and we know how to plant Dutch Irises, and even so, we still always print out directions from website just to be sure.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Beautiful flower mix with little care needed

Was skeptical about the color blend and was expecting all one color but it's a great mix with all the colors in the picture. The yellow dots are gorgeous, like a flourescent gold.

Spectacular show!

Submitted 4 years ago

By Desert Lil

From Phoenix, AZ

I love this Dutch iris mix so much, I'm buying my third bag. Even here in my desert garden, they have thrived with my benign neglect. I have them planted among and between my purple bearded iris, under trees with full morning sun, and filtered/part afternoon sun. In late winter, I start watering about once a week when I see them sprout. I use Miracle Gro about once a month, and I mulch in summer. But that's about all I do. They have not needed any pest control. I cannot be sure that every bulb sprouted, but I don't have any bare spots so I'm certainly not missing any. I'd say at least 95% grew and bloomed. And it's just spectacular. I did get some surprise yellow blooms, but they are so beautiful themselves and complement the blues so well that it was a happy surprise. The colors are rich and vibrant, even from a distance. Like my kitchen and living room windows distance! Up close, the lavender and white variety is so elegant and regal that she steals the show. I really can't say enough wonderful things about this mix. They are among the first to bloom every spring and it's just glorious! The bearded iris begin to bloom just as the Dutch iris blooms are fading, and the evergreen foliage of the bearded iris are good for hiding the foliage of the Dutch iris as it dies back. It's been a good combination planting for me.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

These are so wonderful in a garden. They coordinate with pretty much anything you plant, are reliable and make great cut flowers.
