Giant Canna Red King Humbert

Spectacular plants

Submitted 7 months ago

By Happy Gardener

These things are truly fabulous. I bought them to fill in space between some columnar evergreens, and they're enormous. Absolutely gorgeous, blooming like gangbusters, such a great idea. I'm definitely buying them again next year. The neighbors are impressed!

Bought 3 tubers a few months ago. Not a single one sprouted. Another canna variety I purchased is doing great. Don't recommend this variety.

wrong foilage color

The bulbs, 5 in an order, came in 2 separate bags. Planted promptly amongst other cannas, they are now sprouting, but the foliage color is light green(see pic), instead of dark leaves.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Fantastic! Huge stalks with bright red flowers.

By Tommy Kielbasa

My first purchase from this site was the Red King Humbert Giant Cana. I needed something with a tropical look for the front of our home that could withstand full sun in zone 6/7. Took a gamble on these bulbs...and I was not disappointed. Bulbs arrived at the proper shipping time, and I waited to plant them ensuring frost was no longer a possibility. Watered twice per week, and waited. All of a sudden, growth. These bulbs eventually produced multiple stalks (per bulb) reaching over 6ft high, with minimal effort by me. One plant reached over 8ft in height. All flowers were huge and vibrant, attracting butterflies, pollinators, and surprisingly humming birds. Throughout the summer I watered and also occasionally applied liquid fertilizer. This is truly a dramatic addition to the landscape, which has gotten us many compliments from neighbors and those passing by, I highly recommend Giant Red King Humbert.
