Beautiful colors

By Jaci

From Eugene, OR

Great colored mix, mostly double bloom some singles. They're beautiful in my garden floral arrangements. I ordered 2 packs, and it looks like just about all of them came up. I've heard they usually don't overwinter well in the Pacific Northwest, but if they comeback next year I'll be ordering many more.

Terrible stock

By Muertini

From Lafayette, LA

Of the 25 bulbs I received, only ONE! came up!!.... and it was so tinny, it barely bloomed a couple of flowers. Didn't really look that great. Another bust from this site unfortunately. Wasted more time and effort than anything.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Liked them so much that I'm buying more

Submitted 4 years ago

By Jenny

From Gibbsboro, NJ

I'll agree with the reviewer that they didn't come up as those ruffled double blooms, BUT I planted them in multiple areas and they all came up and were very pretty. I do wish I had planted them more deeply/densely for greater impact in each space, which is why I'm getting more to plant this coming fall.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Beautiful but different from the picture

Submitted 4 years ago

By Cadin

From Los Angeles, CA

These came out beautifully this spring from fall planting in zone 10. They were in bloom for 6-8 weeks. I'm very happy with them. The flowers look different from the picture. Many of them are single and semi double blossom and not fully double like in the picture. But I have to say it was more beautiful than expected. Awesome!

I don't know what I did wrong but all these ranunculus did not flower for me. They sprouted in containers but now they're yellowing and we still have cold nights. I didnt see bugs. It said can be planted in containers..
Asked by GISELLE
Verified Reply - Vici◾The most crucial part in ranunculus care is watering. Yes, keeping the soil moist but not wet is the trick to grow healthy ranunculus plants. Too little moisture and they will wither away, while overwatering increases root rotting. ◾Ranunculus cannot tolerate heavy fertilization. Of course, they do require fertile soil and nutrients for producing maximum flower buds. You can use correct doses of bulb fertilizer during the active growth season and just before the blooming period. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
These ranuculus claim that you don't have to dig these corms up in the fall for zone 7. Has anyone overwintered these using mulch? I haven't been able to find anything online about any ranuculus that can be left in the ground in zone 7. Should I just build raised garden with low tunnel or dig these up in fall? Has anyone had good results with these coming back in spring, in zone 7 after being left in the ground during winter?
Asked by KiKi
Verified Reply - AngelaWe do suggest the French Peony Ranunculus is hardy in zones 7-10. Mulching for winter in zone 7 would be helpful. Well draining soil is also important since the bulbs won't like being wet in winter. Maybe you should try leaving a few in the ground this year and see how they perform in your garden. Q
What type of soil is best for these French Peony Ranunculus? Now that I received them I'd like to get them planted.
Asked by Janice
Verified Reply - AngelaRanunculus prefers well draining soil. They do not like to sit in wet soil. You can amend your soil with compost or peat moss to raise the soil level and improve drainage. They prefer a slightly acidic soil but are pretty tolerant. Was this answer helpful to you
