I truly loved having these in my garden. I started them indoors to get an early start since I have a short season in zone 6b, don't think that made a lot of difference, they really took off after planting out, and they really made the garden look better. I loved these. I tried over wintering the corms but the leaves were really small the next year and the just didn't perform as well as the first year, so I'm ordering more this year.

Beautiful easy summer staple if you can provide a lot of heat and keep them well watered. We live in the north end of zone 8. 80°+ for 3 to 4 months. They start looking bad when it cools down to the low 70's, high 60's, towards the end of October. It's not really meant for cold locations. You can plant them in containers so you don't have to wait for the dirt in your yard to warm up. Hit or miss to overwinter the dormant bulbs in the house. I tend to rot them easily. Going to try dry sand this year. Will continue to buy the dormant bulbs and wait until late May/early June to plant them out. (Mid 70's)

I've had trouble with caladiums in the past, but these came up. I would say about a 90% of the bulbs came up.

I am in Zone 5 so i waited a long time to plant these in the spring and then a long time to see any spikes. Now I have 100% growth, all healthy. They are so fun - nice and bright in the shade and they wiggle and wave in the breeze. I only wish i had planted them closer together because they aren't as big as I imagined. Growing caladium takes some work but I think they are definitely worth it. I will dig them up and overwinter.
