Beautiful combination of colors

Submitted 2 years ago

By Savvy Gardener

From Downers Grove, IL

Absolutely stunning color and long lasting bloom. The white is more of a pale yellow. Planted 100 last fall and all except a few bloomed this spring. My dog and the squirrels got a couple.

I like the three colors of these tulips, they are vivid and pretty. The blossoms are a little smaller than i thought they would be.The shipping was great. I will be ordering more bulbs in the fall. i will be ordering more of the Double Peony Tulip Angelique. They are stunning and I will fill in around these Plum parade tulips.

Unique

From Missouri

Just bloomed today and we love them. So far they seem a bit small but since this is day one, I'm thinking the blooms will increase in size slightly. Also, I thought there would be pink too, based on photos and so far it seems primarily lavender/purple. Regardless, I love tulips and I love these.

Enhanced my Spring garden in Maine so beautifully.

Submitted 5 years ago

By Maine Gardener

From mid-coast Maine

I will absolutely get more of these in the Autumn again. I've never been so happy with a tulip color combination as I am with these. Right now, I look out at various areas of my gardens where I planted these in groups last autumn, and it is such a treat to see these: tall, elegant, adding such dimension to the beds with their various colors of purple, pinks, white. I could not be more pleased. It appears that every bulb came up, though a few of them looked in questionable condition when I planted them.

Blooms in waves.

Submitted 9 years ago

By Elena Yacoub

From Mount Pleasant SC

I am in zone 8B, I did not prechill them, but they all showed up. First, I was upset that tulips did not bloom all together like on picture, but later I changed my mind. They bloomed in waves, color by color, colors overlap. As a result, my flower bed was blooming for a month, and every week it loked different! I wanted to harvest bulbs for the next year, but there was no bulbs to harvest (typical problem for the warm climate).

Q
I am wondering why my tulips are so short. I think I remembered to order the taller varieties. A friend said that I was supposed to specify pre-chilled. But I thought all of the tulips would automatically be chilled. Was I wrong? Thanks so much for your thoughts - Angela
Asked by Angela
Verified Reply - AngelaHi there. Our tulip bulbs are not pre-chilled. If you live in a warm area, it's best to chill the bulbs for 8 to 10 weeks and plant them after November. Short tulips are very likely the result of a lack of chill hours. I hope they were beautiful blooms despite their height. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
what type of tulip are these? Im interested i perennial types hat return every year.
Asked by Susan
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Plum Parade Tulips are Tulipa 'Negrita', 'Violet Beauty', 'Royal Virgin', 'Mistress'. These are Triumph Tulips. They are somewhat reliably perennial. Most people grow them as annuals and plant new bulbs each year. For the most reliably perennial tulips, select Darwin Hybrids or Pride Tulips. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Good morning. I am interested in your Plum Parade Tulip Mix collection. Can you tell me if the 4 colors are separated into individual bags for each color, or are all the bulbs mixed together? I have an on going color scheme with the things I plant and would like to keep things continuing in that direction. Thank you for your help!! I appreciate it!
Asked by Bren
Verified Reply - ViciWhen purchasing a mix the bulbs are mixed up in one bag and are not bagged per color. Was this answer helpful to you
Q

Q
Did each different kind of tulip come in a separate bag? Otherwise how do you know what you are planting where?
Asked by Granite State gardener
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Plum Parade Tulips bulbs will not be separated by variety. This will be a less arranged planting and look for naturalized. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Does this tulip mix perennialize well? Thanks
Asked by Thelma
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Plum Parade Tulip Mix includes a variety of tulips. Some may perennialize well while others may not. The most reliable perennial tulips are Darwin Hybrid Tulips. https://www.dutchbulbs.com/product/_MidSeason_Tulip_BloomersWas this answer helpful to you
