Large Cupped Daffodil Cool Flame

Large Cupped Daffodil Cool Flame

83%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
Stunningly elegant with instant appeal, this elegant large-cupped daff features supple, white petals that overlap and surround bright red-pink cups with a unique ribbed pattern. Sure to add a bold contrasting effect to mid to late spring borders or garden beds. Cool Flame was first introduced in 1969, but modern gardeners and landscapers are now enjoying a love affair with this robust daffodil. Strong and sturdy, with stems that can withstand seasonal rain and wind with ease, it also naturalizes quite well and looks amazing planted in large groups.

Temperatures affect daffodil colors. Warmer spring temperatures really bring out the pink or salmon-pink hues in pink daffodils, while cooler temperature bring out their orange tones.

These all came up and were very pretty but the center of the flower was not as bright as I expected. Still very nice though.

Color is nowhere near as intense

I've had these for two seasons. The first season the scarlet centers were more like peach. I thought maybe they needed another season to acclimate. Second season was not much better. May dig them up and plant something else

Merchant Response

Thank you for the feedback, Steven. Temperatures affect daffodil colors. Warmer spring temperatures really bring out the pink or salmon-pink hues in pink daffodils, while cooler temperature bring out their orange tones. We will add this note to the product page.

Planted these in an old tin tub with holes in the bottom at our farm - they were drop-dead gorgeous. Blooms are gone now so no image available. Thanks.

Big Daffodils, Sturdy. Not Quite As Vibrant as the Photo

I planted a group of these along our foundation, and they came up much earlier than most as a result of the ambient heat from the home. Tallest bloomers on the first year, but the color is not quite as rich as the photos show here...more of a peach than orange. Might get better as the plants settle in and mature.

Very strong stems that withstood hard Spring rains when other daffodils were knocked over. Fantastic color.

Daffodil bulbs didn't sprout...

Only one (1) bulb sprouted. Extremely upsetting as I planted according to enclosed guidelines. All of the bulbs I received from my neighbor (planted the same way) sprouted.

Q&A

Q
Hello, I bought a daffodil last year that I think was "Decoy" or "Riot" Daffodil. I don't see it this year. Has it been renamed to this daffodil? I don't want to duplicate.
Asked by Ann
Verified Reply - ViciNo. Riot has a totally different cup. Decoy has a smaller cup. Cool Flame is a large cupped daffodil and will have larger flowers. Was this answer helpful to you
