Give your next garden display or landscape plan a little taste of the tropics with the addition of Berry Awesome Hibiscus. With a nod to island life and sunny beaches, this exotic shrub shows off its 7-8" ruffled, lavender-pink blooms and dramatic midnight-green foliage in sun splashed borders or as an entryway specimen plant. A vast improvement over the top-heavy hibiscus of old, this well-formed variety stays upright and visible. Produces plenty of blooms over an extended period of time from July to September. An amazing addition to any landscape or garden design. PP27936 CPBR5647

Berry Awesome a beautiful addition to my landscape

Submitted 3 years ago

By Payit4WardKen

From Pueblo CO

I was worried about this order because FedEx took nearly 10 days to get it to me. In spite of that and perhaps because of it, all six plants are growing and doing well. I attribute the extra time in shipment and it being such a hot time of year to the plants "sweating" and breaking dormancy in the plastic packaging material before reaching me. K. van Bourgondien sends #1 large roots. I am please with these and the other varieties I have ordered before and since. I look forward to seeing them bloom. Such a "Awesome" color and large flowers. I also like the maple leaf foliage.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

moldy

Submitted 3 years ago

By Willis

From Michigan

I ordered 8 of these and 3 of them were moldy and soft. What they sent was a struggle to get started because of not much of a root system. The moldy ones were soft and rotten, had to throw 3 of them out. They did bloom this year and are beautiful. I will order more in the spring and if any of them are not perfect I will go to the depts and send them back for a refund this time.

Merchant Response

Thank you for sharing your review with us. We were sorry to hear three of the Hibiscus Berry Awesome arrived moldy and soft. We are delighted to let you know we guarantee our merchandise, your satisfaction is our first and top priority! We will be reaching out to you with a positive resolution.

Q
How well do you think this particular cultivar would do being trained as a standard in tree form grown in a large container?
Asked by Lori
Verified Reply - AngelaBerry Awesome Hibiscus is an herbaceous perennial. It dies back to the ground each winter. You will want the woody shrub Hibiscus syriacus or Rose of Sharon to prune as a standard. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is the color of this hibiscus moscheutos cultivar on the blue end of the spectrum? It appears to be but I can't tell from the photo and it will be a companion to existing Damask and Alba shrub roses. I would like to ask the same question re H.m x 'Midnight Marvel' as well. If any others are on the blue end let me know.
Asked by Jack
Verified Reply - AngelaThe HIbiscus Berry Awesome is on the blue end of the color spectrum. Midnight Marvel leans orange red.Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Would this be a Hardy Hibiscus? We live in Texas and have had the hardy that returned year after year.
Asked by Lisa
Verified Reply - ViciYes this is a hardy hibiscus in zones 4 - 9. It will grow well for you in your zone 8a.Was this answer helpful to you
Q
are these rabbit tolerant?
Asked by Kathleen
Verified Reply - AngelaWe don't trial specifically for rabbit resistance. I am of the opinion that rabbits will eat any tender new growth. If rabbits are an issue in your garden, I would cage or cloche the new growth. These plants grow quickly and will be out of reach for the bunnies in no time. Was this answer helpful to you
