Echinacea Salsa Red

Echinacea Salsa Red

It's hard to look away from this exquisite new Echinacea. Coneflower Salsa Red wows in the garden or border with warm red to burgundy blooms and silvery reserved petals. The unique effect produced by the plentiful blooms and striking color contrast is quite hypnotic. Salsa Red is a vigorous plant that produces an abundance of these amazing flowers throughout a long bloom period. Strong stems keep the blooms upright and visible all season long in the garden or as a fresh indoor arrangement. Butterflies love coneflowers, so they make an excellent addition to a mixed pollinator garden, as well. PP23105

Q
for the red echinacea - any information regarding the question of mildew as some are affected?
Asked by Polish Pat
Verified Reply - AngelaSalsa Red Echinacea makes no claims for special powdery mildew resistance. You can help prevent this issue with proper plant spacing and full sun exposure. Avoid watering over the top of plants as wet foliage can encourage mildew. Water at the base of the plant and mulch to prevent splashing of soil borne pathogens. Was this answer helpful to you

Q
Can this flower be put in a pot? If so, what size pot? and how often would it need to be re-potted using normal potting soil.
Asked by Randy
Verified Reply - KimberlyWe tend to grow Echinacea in the ground as perennial plants, but you can certainly grow them in pots. If the containers are deep enough for the plant's taproot (at least 2- or 3-gallon pots). Ensure there are holes in the bottom of the pot. They should be re-potted every one and a half to two years.
