Q
If these are planted in a lawn of hard fescue, will they naturalize or do I need to remove the sod before planting?
Asked by Bees on Earth
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Early Snow Glories will naturalize in an established lawn. You may want to clear a small area of sod for the initial planting. This will help them get established by removing competition. Once established, they will be carefree. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
It rains a lot sometimes snows in 9A Southern Oregon. Will these bulbs be affected? I'm planting them on a hillside.
Asked by Curious in 9A Oregon
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Early Snow Glories do not mind the snow and actually require a certain number of chill hours in order to bloom. We suggest these bulbs for zones 3 to 8. Hillside planting is fine if they are planted about 3 inches deep. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
How long will the blooms last?
Asked by Zen
Verified Reply - AngelaEarly Snow Glories will bloom for 3 to 4 weeks in early spring. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Would another véry dry, hot spell like the one we are experiencing now have a bad effect on bulb development after bloom next spring?
Asked by Vandy
Verified Reply - AngelaBulbs generally prefer drier soil conditions during the summer dormant season. That said, conditions can be too dry when they are forming next year's flower. In that case, flowering could be negatively impacted by drought conditions. In the absence of rain, water should be provided after flowering when foliage is still present. We do not suggest watering bulbs later during dormancy if planted in the ground. Potted bulbs that are stored under cover will need only light watering about once a month. You are just trying to keep the soil from drying out completely. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Will these bulbs naturalize?
